The Celebration Of All Celebrations
The Celebration of All Celebrations
Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.
Revelation 19:9
Here is one invitation we do not want to miss! No matter how young or old, heavy-laden or carefree we are, this invitation is ours for the taking. Because Jesus was always saying, “Come” (Matthew 11:28), we can extend the same invitation to others and introduce them to Jesus, the Lamb of God. This is worth spreading the news about! The invitation list is all-inclusive—no one is left out.
Remember what it was like when someone at school was having a birthday party but not every child in the class was invited? If you didn’t receive an invitation, it felt awful to know that something was going on and you were not included.
The invitation to the wedding feast referred to in today’s verse is an invitation to everyone! It isn’t just any old gathering either. It’s the premier event of all time and beyond—the wedding feast that will finally celebrate the reunion of Jesus, the Lamb, with His bride, the church—believers in Christ.
The invitation is open until Jesus returns to gather His own for the journey home. He desires everyone to give an RSVP of “Yes!” and then spread the word about His coming back. Although we cannot RSVP for other guests, Jesus is delighted when they respond to Him with their own personal RSVP of believing faith.
We need to tell others that they have been invited personally by Jesus! If they only check their hearts carefully, they will see His personal welcome waiting there.
We are blessed by this invitation, and we can do our part to encourage others to join us when we share with them the meaning of the wedding feast.
Let’s share the excitement about the feast Jesus is preparing for His wedding party! Help others realize they’re invited, and they can’t afford to miss it. Read Revelation 19:6-9 for a glimpse of the best of all wedding celebrations.
