Sweetwalking By Faith

Sweetwalking by Faith

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

Hebrews 11:1-2

As a child, I was an occasional sleepwalker, wandering through the house with no awareness of my actions. I’m thankful that my midnight journeys never led to injury or trouble.

I wonder how many people in this world are sleepwalking through life with no awareness of God. They believe that life ends at death, that there’s nothing more to our existence. Consequently, they try to do everything they can to achieve success on this earth. Many miss out on the most important fact: the Good News that there is a God and He has a plan for each and every spiritual sleepwalker. He is the only One who can really wake us up—for now and forever.

God wants to use His followers, those already awakened to Christ, to share His Good News. I know that when I get busy with my daily to-do list before hearing what God has to say through His Word, I never seem to get around to really listening to His voice above all the other voices that surround me.

I love the fact that King David “encouraged himself in the LORD his God” (1 Samuel 30:6, KJV), and we can certainly follow his example. God is the best Encourager we’ll ever find, and we can use a lot of encouragement to do the things He wants us to do! It’s great to have a divine Motivator giving us that extra reassuring boost.

Wouldn’t you rather sweetwalk in the light than sleepwalk in the dark? Think of one verse from the Bible that awakens you to sweetwalk with Him. If you’re having trouble remembering one, try Psalm 25:4; 27:11; or 57:7-9.
