Real Power Source
Real Power Source
I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.
John 8:12
Rushing around in my kitchen one morning, I could not determine why the refrigerator light was not coming on when I opened the door. Because I was in a hurry, I didn’t think much about it at the time. However, when I returned home late in the afternoon and flipped the switch on the electric teakettle to make a cup of tea, the red light didn’t go on. What’s going on here? It was time to investigate.
When I checked the plug on the kettle, I was even more perplexed. It wasn’t in the same outlet as the refrigerator. By this time, evening was setting in, and my kitchen was growing darker. My favorite white lights that stay on year-round in my kitchen window weren’t working either. The food in the fridge wasn’t cold anymore. It was time to really take action! I was momentarily clueless until I put two and two together and finally realized that all three outlets were on the same side of the kitchen.
Duh! The fuse box! (You probably knew the answer before I did.) With a few quick steps, I located the fuse box and found the breaker switch for the kitchen.
Ahh . . . I heard the blessed rumble of our refrigerator kicking in. I knew that God could see my “so excited” face shining in the dark kitchen. I had fixed something on my own—without having to call Mark! All I had to do was flip a switch for power to be restored from the main source.
How many precious people in this world are walking around in darkness and without power because they have not flipped the switch in their hearts to welcome the only true Power Source in this dark world—the King of kings and Lord of lords? Jesus Christ dispels all of our darkness. The Light of the World came to enlighten people, and He still does today. He makes everything work. Faith in Him flips on a switch in us that will make us shine forever.
Next time you lose your power, remember the only true Power Source. First John 1:5-7 tells us about the Light that never grows dim.
