Lock In Those Wraps

I love simple household tips that save me time and energy. Two former housemates, Sweet Meg and Mimi, gave me a real gem that I couldn’t believe I didn’t already know.

Did you know that the boxes that aluminum foil and plastic wrap come in have tabs on the ends to lock in the wraps? After years of wrangling with tangled foil and plastic, I finally learned to lock the rolls in place by pressing in the tabs. Name brands and generic wrap boxes both have them—such a wonder!

This small addition to the box has turned out to be a giant stress reliever for me. Now my rolls of foil and plastic wrap don’t tumble out of their boxes, and I’m not fumbling around, trying to find where the wrap starts. And it’s safer, too—I am less likely to cut my hand on the serrated edge.

Of course, obstinate wrap is not a life-changing issue, but it does make me think about faith. Is my faith locked up tight when life gets tangled and threatens to twist, unravel, and tear me up? We lock in our faith by taking our troubles to God and staying close to Him through conversation—listening to Him by reading His Word and talking to Him in prayer. When we do that, He reaffirms our security in Him. He holds us firm to keep us from becoming undone and protects our souls from the jagged edges of our difficult circumstances.

Being locked into God by faith means we will never run out of love, joy, peace, and comfort in this life because He locks in His promises for all His children—even in the midst of torn and tangled lives.
