History With God

History with God

“You are my witnesses, O Israel!” says the LORD. “You are my servant. You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am God. There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be. I, yes I, am the LORD, and there is no other Savior. . . . From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.”

Isaiah 43:10-11, 13

History was not my best subject in school. But ever since I began reading the Bible, I have become an avid history student.

Seeing God care for His people over and over again despite their continual disobedience has drawn me to worship such a patient, loving, merciful Lord.

God cares for His people from eternity to eternity, as only the one true God can. He reminds all of us that there is no other God—never has been, never will be!

The history of Israel recorded for us in the Bible is our heritage too. Through His people, God showed a lost world that He alone is God. Today’s verses are just a taste of the precious relationship God has with His people—then, now, and forever. He claims us and gives us a place of belonging and hope in Him.

“But now, O Jacob, listen to the LORD who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, ‘Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine’” (Isaiah 43:1). When we accept the Lord’s gift of salvation, we are His forever. In fact, He tells us that He called us by name—such an intimate, knowledgeable, and personal act on His part. He says no one can undo that fact: we are His and He is ours.

We have a history. We have a history with God through Jesus Christ! Please read all of Isaiah 43 in wonder and worship of God. Let’s rejoice that our history with God will continue throughout our future with Him.
