His Glorious Image

All of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

2 Corinthians 3:18

I don’t know about you, but I like to think of ways to organize our home so it is simpler to manage. Disorder does not bring out the best in me! (Don’t worry, someone else’s mess doesn’t bother me—just my own!) I am continually thinking of ways to use space wisely and “sweeten” our home so I can better focus on what is really going to last in this life—God, His Word, and people. I’ll admit that sometimes it is easier to rearrange furniture than to allow God to rearrange me. But I am always up for change. Developing this threefold focus in priorities has definitely been a supernatural change that only God could make in me.

Sometimes only God can see this change. Maybe we need to quickly return a library book that we started to read but were troubled by its contents, or maybe we ought to throw away a cluttered stack of catalogs that particularly tempt us to overspend. Perhaps change can happen when we ask God to show us any attitudes that need to go right into the trash can, and maybe we need to take time to simply stop and ponder where God is moving in our lives so that we can move with Him by faith in the power of His Holy Spirit, even when we are afraid. Thank goodness the Lord is committed to conforming us to His image so He can shine brightly through us.

Celebrate God’s Spirit making us more and more like Him! Let’s ask God to show us one area of change that needs to happen in us; then let’s be willing to step out in faith and make it happen.
