Good News Girl

Good News Girl

[Jesus] said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.”

Matthew 9:37

Right now I have on my “so excited” face, thankful to be a worker in God’s fields with all believers. No matter what field or occupation, we are all full-time Christian workers as children of God. He says His fields are ripe for harvest and we’re His workers, His “God girls.”

We are God’s girls who know the Good News, that God loved us so much that His Son gave His life for us. There is a lot of sweet work involved in sharing His love. But guess what? God does all the truly hard work—the “heart” work—in people’s lives. It is clear that the Lord is in charge of the harvest. We get to go along for the sweet ride, praying and working wholeheartedly together for the Lord.

What does this work look like? Some workers plant the seeds of the Good News by sharing about their hope in Jesus, then more workers come and water these seeds with the truth of salvation. As these seeds sprout and interest in Jesus grows, other workers provide support and answer questions. When hearts are ready to accept the Good News of salvation in Jesus, some workers help guide them toward this life-changing decision. Unless we are willing to go out into the fields and work together, we may miss the opportunity to share God’s love by planting tiny sweet seeds, watering them, or fertilizing them for growth.

As God’s girls, our first joyful job is to pray for more workers in the fields God has given us and start sowing. Sow sweet!

Let’s not forget that God is in charge of the harvest. We have the joy of being God’s girls with Good News! Who will you cross paths with today out in the literal field where He has planted you? Remember, He can use you for His Kingdom work.
