God’s Great Guidance

God’s Great Guidance

The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the LORD; he guides it wherever he pleases.

Proverbs 21:1

Today’s verse is one I committed to memory for a very personal reason that still means a great deal to me.

I discovered it many years ago in my own BC days (Before Committing to marry my Mark). I guess I could also call that season my AD (Always Dating) life, when I was immature and thought it was my job to find God’s man for me!

While Mark and I were getting to know each other, God placed another young Christian man in my path when, for once, I was not even looking for one. My heart felt torn. I was so surprised by these new feelings for someone else. Now I am grateful I had already given my whole heart to the Lord, as much as I knew how, so I knew I did not have a “divided heart” toward God. For the first time, though, I had a divided heart about two great men! It was not fun. I was not flattered. It was a very upsetting time in my life, even though I had two great choices for a lifetime mate!

I needed help. I needed God’s direction, so I turned to Him, knowing He saw everything. He knew my heart and that I wanted His choice for me.

I opened His Word and read this verse for the very first time. It was as if God’s light was beaming into my heart. I felt like He was saying, “Kim, your heart is like a stream of water directed by Me. I guide it wherever I please.”

With relief I responded to that still small voice, Lord, I am reminding You that I gave You my heart. You guide it!

I’m happy to say that He did guide me and has blessed my marriage with Mark through huge ups and downs. I’m confident now when I say He will lead His people if we allow Him.

Embrace God’s great guidance. He will not let us miss it.
