God Will Do The Right Thing

God Will Do the Right Thing

The LORD is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet.

Nahum 1:3

Recently two people told me they did not want to know a God who let criminals who committed horrible acts go free on a deathbed confession.

Whoa! I was surprised when this loaded statement came up two times in one week while I was out and about, and from people in different occupations and circumstances. But I loved that the subject of God came up! I think we talk about everything else in this world; why not talk about the One who really makes the world go round?

Although I always feel inadequate to handle deep questions, I know that God gives us everything we need to say. Breathing quick prayers, both times I said something like, “We can trust that God always does the right thing! He is the only One who can see anyone’s heart, and we can trust Him to deal with each person in His ideal way. God cannot go against His perfectly just and perfectly gracious character.”

In both instances, we were able to have refreshing conversations about real issues of life, and even though I feel so ineffective next to God’s immeasurable greatness, I can defend His name as He empowers me! God is at work drawing people to Himself, and He does all the hard work in each person’s heart.

As we go about the everyday details of life, we can rest in His answers while we dwell on the absolute fact that He makes everything right, in His way and in His time!

Let’s meditate on the fact that God will make everything right for eternity. Consider an issue that needs to be made right in the world. Thank God now that He will fix it with His perfect methods and in His time.
