Everlasting Life
Everlasting Life
I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.
John 6:47
The Lord is my only company this very quiet but very sad morning. I feel as though I’m the only one up in the whole world! This time of day is when I miss my mother the most, because I remember so many early-morning phone conversations as we caught up with each other over a cup of coffee.
This particular morning God has painted the sky pink just for me, and I am wondering what my mama is doing right now in heaven. Is there coffee there? Is she rearranging her mansion? Is she making pimento cheese? I can only imagine her joy. It is still a mystery to me here on earth, but the one thing I know for sure that fills a part of this big hole in my heart is the fact that my mama is in the Lord’s presence!
His Kingdom is the most beautiful home and garden she has ever seen! When she arrived, He called her by name: “Maxine Kiziah ‘Honey’ Bowman.” He removed her cancer; she never has to battle it again. She has no more pain, no more tears, no more sorrow (Revelation 21:4).
As salty tears of loss and grief start to run down my cheeks, the joy and gratefulness I feel for the hope of heaven and everlasting life found only in Jesus Christ makes the bitterness sweet.
Jesus promised, “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life” (John 6:47). My heart is uplifted with the understanding that one day He’ll reunite all His believers with Himself. Our separation on earth is temporary, but the sweet heavenly reunion will never end.
Are you suffering a loss too? Be comforted by the God of all comfort. He is a personal God who sees your sorrow and feels it with you. But He also wants to revive your spirit today with His hope of eternity.
