Bff

“Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God.

James 2:23

“Father Abraham had many sons.” Remember that song from Sunday school? If we have trusted in Christ as our Savior and become children of God, then we are spiritual descendants of Abraham too. And we’re God’s friends forever. “So let’s just praise the Lord!” In Jesus Christ we have a BFF—Best Friend Forever—beginning now, on this temporal earth.

Friendships are one of God’s richest blessings. Laughter, tears, and fun are all a part of life with friends. And sometimes on dark days, when circumstances overwhelm us and no easy solutions are in sight, friends are welcome comfort. Even so, no human friend can make everything all better and fix our difficult situations.

You and I must put our faith and trust in our Best Friend Forever, who can and will make everything perfect in His time. He knows all about us and loves us unconditionally. He understands our strengths and weaknesses, our areas of pride and fear and heartache. He accepts us even when we don’t feel acceptable to anyone.

To top all that, the Lord is never busy. He is always available. He is always kind. He knows what is around the corner in our future, and He has big plans for us. His name is Jesus, and we all need Him.

Jesus’ type of friendship is hugely unselfish, too. He is always for us, and He will not compete for first place in our hearts. It’s our choice to learn from Him and become the type of friend He is, choosing to place His priorities above our own. In the process, we learn to love to the point that the friendship we offer to others looks like the friendship He embodies. And the best part is that we get to enjoy His friendship for all eternity. BFFs—Best Friends Forever for sure!

Make sure that today, in Christ, you have a BFF—a Best Friend Forever! Ask Him to show you how to offer His type of unselfish friendship to someone else so that person can understand what it means to also have Christ as a BFF.
