All In God’s Hands

No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him.

John 6:44, NKJV

Jesus draws people! This truth frees me, relaxes me, comforts me, and makes me want to jump up and down with joy, even though I’m a grown woman.

You see, I love people, and I want everyone to know Jesus so they will have real, priceless hope, even in the heartaches of life. But I’m so relieved that it isn’t up to me at all to change people’s hearts—Jesus draws people to Himself.

I cannot do anything to change someone’s heart one iota to desire God. When I finally realized this fact and that I was not responsible to give a “perfect” gospel presentation or be the perfect example of a Christian in order for someone to come to Christ, I relaxed. This was a huge burden off my shoulders.

Now, please do not misunderstand me. I am not relaxed about caring. I care about people. I care where people will spend eternity; I want to be in heaven with everyone. I want people to know Christ, not just because their eternal destination is at stake, but also because I cannot imagine experiencing the troubles in this life without relying on a loving and patient Savior, who never keeps any record of my wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5) and is an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1, NIV).

Knowing that all the power for change and redemption is in the hands of God is so freeing. We can relax in God’s faithfulness and provision, believing He will give us all we need to do what He wants us to do or say. He promised us that His Holy Spirit will reside in our hearts and will reflect Him to others in this hurting world as we go through our daily responsibilities.

Whew! Go God!

God does all the hard work in people’s hearts. Let’s ask Him to give us sensitivity to how He wants us to reach out to others with His Good News.
