Drawing On His Riches

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.”

1 Corinthians 2:9-12

What we cannot know by seeing, hearing, or imagining, we can know by the Spirit’s revelation. The word revelation means “uncovering” or “unveiling.” The Spirit unveils God’s truths to our understanding. When the Spirit gives understanding, we will know what God has ready and waiting as certainly as if we’d seen it with our eyes or heard it with our ears.

We can know God and his deep truths only by receiving them directly from him. Just as no one knows me but me, no one knows God but God. If you want to know his thoughts, he will have to reveal them to you.

God has revealed himself to us. He has given us his Spirit so that we can understand what he has prepared for us and has made freely available to us.

When we know what God has available to us, we will walk in his provision. We will lean on his power. If we don’t know what’s there, we won’t know to avail ourselves of it. Imagine that someone had opened a bank account in your name and made a substantial deposit, but you never accessed the funds. What if you lived as if you had nothing, when in reality you had plenty? That is why God has given us his Spirit to reveal his riches—so we will live in his abundance.

Lord, alert me to your provision so that I can walk daily in it.

We may have as much of God as we will. Christ puts the key of the treasure-chamber into our hand, and bids us take all that we want. If a man is admitted into the bullion vault of a bank, and told to help himself, and comes out with one cent, whose fault is it that he is poor?
