Destined

Destined

I cried out, “I am slipping!” but your unfailing love, O LORD, supported me. When doubts filled my mind, your comfort gave me renewed hope and cheer.

Psalm 94:18-19

Fear of failure can stop us in our tracks. It can keep us from taking the next step and keep us frozen in place. Can you fathom this promise? Anytime you slip, the Lord is there to catch you. You can’t fall flat, because “the LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).

You exist because it is God’s purpose and desire that you exist: “You created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased” (Revelation 4:11).

You are not random. You are deliberately created and designed and placed on earth at the right time, in the right place, with the right gifts and talents: “We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago” (Ephesians 2:10).

You were born for a purpose tailor made for you. You don’t have to cram yourself into it or bear up under it: “You saw me before I was born. . . . Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed” (Psalm 139:16).

A sense of destiny comes from recognizing purpose. God fuses the hard times and confusing circumstances and seeming setbacks into an understanding of destiny. Only when you view each circumstance as a significant piece of a whole will you begin to see life as integrated and meaningful.

Lord, direct my steps. Hold my hand. I embrace your purpose for my life and step out fearlessly in response to your call.

The man who measures things by the circumstances of the hour is filled with fear; the man who sees Jehovah enthroned and governing has no panic.
