Deep And Hidden Things

Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power. He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light. I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded.

Daniel 2:20-23

God wants to work in our lives in such a way that he is the only explanation. He has all wisdom and power and is controlling world events, setting up and removing governments, dispensing wisdom and knowledge.

He reveals the things that we can’t know any other way. Things we can’t know—by seeing, hearing, or even by imagining—are fully known by God, and he is willing to reveal them to us: “‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’ But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets” (1 Corinthians 2:9-10).

God promises to reveal what we need to know when we need to know it: “Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3). Where do you need wisdom beyond knowledge or training or skill? Ask him. Nothing is a puzzle or mystery to him, so just ask.

Lord, I surrender to your Spirit in me. I am not leaning on my own understanding or insight. I look to you for understanding and wisdom. Reveal to me those things of which only you are custodian.

God does not reveal information by communication: He reveals Himself by communion. Revelation is a personal meeting of God with man. It is a meeting of mind with mind or person with person.
