Meditation Moment: Genesis 1
Meditation Moment: Genesis 1
God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:26-27
The big bang theory says that the universe began billions of years ago. The scientists who believe this say the universe we live in had just a few tiny atoms that bumped into each other and blew up into our whole complicated universe. Thus the name “Big Bang.”
Just because a scientist or a teacher says something doesn’t make it true. (Even if it were true, where did those first few atoms come from? Science can’t explain that.)
God created the universe possibly as recently as 6,000 years ago. When we believe that God created the world and us, we can know that we didn’t happen by accident. God made us on purpose and in his image. He does everything perfectly, and that includes his creation of humans.
Remember that as you meditate on Genesis 1:26-27. Make sure you pray before you go over the verses, and then be still and wait for God to reveal what he wants you to know today. Once you have a picture, thought, or idea in your mind, go ahead and write it down here or in a journal.
Girl Gab: Talk to each other about what your response should be when someone tries to teach you something that doesn’t agree with the fact that God created the world.
