Meditation Moment: Colossians 3
Meditation Moment: Colossians 3
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23
“Work hard.”
“Finish putting the dishes away.”
“Did you finish your homework?”
You receive a lot of messages about work, don’t you? Every now and then work can be fun or entertaining, but there’s a lot of work we have to do that we don’t necessarily want to do, right?
Maybe Colossians 3:23 will give you some wisdom for how to deal with the work you don’t feel like doing. It doesn’t say, “Work willingly when you are doing something you like.” Nor does it say, “Work willingly when you are working for God.” It says, “Work willingly at whatever you do.” Taking out the trash? Work willingly. Studying your spelling words? Work willingly.
Pray first, and then go over the verse several times.
Wait to hear from God. He would love to teach you through the truth of his Word today.
When you feel that God has spoken to you through an idea, picture, or thought, go ahead and write it down.
Girl Gab: Tell your mom one specific area in which you need to be more willing when you work. Be honest. And, Mom, you aren’t getting off too easy. Why not talk to your daughter about something you need to do with a willing heart? (Mine would be putting away the laundry! Lexi’s would be walking the dog. Autumn does everything willingly.)
