Meditation Moment: Acts 2

All the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need. Acts 2:44-45

The second chapter of Acts is so inspiring. It describes the way the first group of Jesus’ followers came into fellowship with each other as a church. The Christians shared everything. They sold their stuff so they could give the money to people who needed it. My husband thinks it would be so cool if we didn’t live on a cul-de-sac where everyone owns his own lawn mower, snow blower, camper, and gas grill. He often imagines what we could do with the money we would save if we all shared our possessions and didn’t feel so much like we needed them. I bet we could change the world! The early believers did!

What if everything you had wasn’t just yours?

What if you shared all your belongings with other Christians?

What if you sold stuff you didn’t need and gave the money to the poor?

What if church were less like a meeting and more like a family?

As you meditate today, run some of these “what ifs” through your mind. Pray first and then read over the focus verses. Ask God to speak to you as you wait on him. When you feel that he’s telling you something through an idea, word, picture, or thought, go ahead and write it down.
