Bible Blast: Read Psalm 143:1-12

Come, everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise! Psalm 47:1

Grace’s best friend, Raye, was going through a hard time. So many things seemed to be going wrong for her, and she was starting to feel lost. Raye’s faith in God had always been strong, but with all the bad stuff swirling around her, she was beginning to doubt his love for her.

Grace’s heart broke for her friend. She encouraged her as much as she could with truth from God’s Word. At times she was afraid Raye would turn her back on God altogether if something didn’t change soon.

After catching a movie at the local theater one night, they drove down the flat roads of Ohio toward Raye’s home.

Suddenly Grace said, “Raye, put down your window, and I’ll put down mine.”

Raye said, “Okay,” and did as Grace said.

Grace looked at her and said, “We’re going to take turns shouting out these windows at the top of our lungs about who God is in our lives. I’ll go first.” She stuck her head out the window and yelled as loud as she could, “God, you are my healer!” Then she turned to Raye and said, “Your turn!”

Raye hesitated a moment and screamed out the window, “God, you saved me!”

Along that long country road they took turns, yelling the truth about who God is out into the world. Did it change Raye’s circumstances? Nope. Did it change Raye’s heart? Maybe. Did it change Raye’s language? Absolutely.

She had spent a lot of time talking about her doubt of God’s character. When she was “forced” to proclaim truth of who God is, she was reminded that God never changes. He’s the same God who has rescued Raye time and time again over the course of her life. He would definitely rescue her again.

At certain points in life, you may need to praise God for who he is just because it’s the right thing to do, not because you feel like it. Every word written about him in the Bible is true. Go ahead and shout them out!

Girl Gab: When it’s appropriate during a car ride with your mom, roll down the windows as your mom drives and take turns yelling out truth about God. Each of you should try to yell at least five things. (A remote country road works best for this so you don’t freak anybody out!)
