Bible Blast: Read Luke 9:57-62

Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place even to lay his head.” Luke 9:58

One thing Jesus told people over and over is that it’s not always easy to follow him. The religious leaders and government guys hated Jesus and his disciples. Jesus never said, “Follow me! If you do, your life on earth will be full of daisies and sunshine! You’ll be really rich, and everyone will love you everywhere you go!”

In today’s Bible Blast passage, Luke records Jesus’ words. Jesus made sure his followers knew that if they chose to walk with him, they might not even have a place to sleep at night. From what we read in the Bible, Jesus was constantly on the move, going from place to place sharing the message of God’s Word everywhere he went.

God may ask you to live in a big house up on a mountain. He could say he needs you to set up your home in a grass hut in Africa. He might tell you to live on a boat that sails from port to port giving people medical care. Or he may need you to travel all around the world telling people about salvation in Jesus. The important thing is that you obey him, no matter what he needs you to do or where he asks you to sleep.
