Don’t Waste Time

Don’t Waste Time

Bible Blast: Read Ecclesiastes 12:1-4

Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.” Ecclesiastes 12:1

Do you know what a “centenarian” is? It’s a person who has lived to be at least a hundred years old. More and more people are living to be a century old. Right now the United States has more centenarians than any other country with about seventy-two thousand of them.a Everyone wants to know what it takes to live that long. Although there’s no definite formula for living to one hundred, there are some things that come up when centenarians are interviewed about their lives.

Most of those century-old people keep their brains fresh by doing crossword puzzles, games, and jigsaw puzzles. A lot of them play instruments or dance, and most of them don’t smoke. In general, most people who live to be one hundred don’t stop enjoying life.

It’s fun to think about getting older, but it’s actually more important to God for you to think about your life right now. The Bible Blast today is a great chunk of wisdom for young people. Instead of waiting to live for God when you’re older, this verse urges you to live for God right now! It’s possible to get so caught up in all the fun things you want to do now that you forget about God. Do you see the danger in that?

If you get into a lifestyle of remembering God now while you’re young, then when you’re older, you won’t regret the days of your youth. You won’t be sitting on your deck at the age of 102 saying, “I really wish I had given Jesus my whole life back when I was eleven. I could have done anything for him with all that strength and energy!”

How do you “remember your Creator”? Spend time with him. Communicate with him and learn from him. Obey what he tells you to do. Get outside, and enjoy the things he’s created, and, above all else, love!

Whether you live to be one hundred or not, you do have this day. Remember your Creator today!

Girl Gab: Do you know any centenarians? Has anyone in your extended family lived to be one hundred? Do you think you would want to be around for a whole century? Tell God that you want to serve him completely today.
