Discouragement

Discouragement

I’m feeling a bit discouraged. What can I do about that?

God’s Response

Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again —my Savior and my God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember your kindness. . . . Through each day the LORD pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. . . . Why am I discouraged? Why so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again —my Savior and my God! Psalm 42:5-6, 8, 11

With everything that can go wrong in life, and with all there is to do, it is easy to become discouraged. In fact, discouragement is one of the most common emotions. Encouragement is the best antidote to discouragement. Read the verses above once more. God is your greatest encourager. Allow him to encourage you each day through his Word. This will lead you to encourage others, and some will return to you in gratitude, further encouraging you. If God has encouraged you, is there someone you can encourage today?

God’s Promise

God . . . encourages those who are discouraged. 2 Corinthians 7:6
