Comfort

Comfort

Can I find comfort in God’s Word?

God’s Response

I meditate on your age-old laws; O LORD, they comfort me. Psalm 119:52

Whenever you were in distress and turned to the LORD . . . and sought him out, you found him. 2 Chronicles 15:4

The LORD is good. When trouble comes, he is a strong refuge. And he knows everyone who trusts in him. Nahum 1:7

God doesn’t always act in the way we expect, because our expectations come from faulty human perceptions. Most of us expect God to comfort us by providing us with the things that we want or think we need, but the Bible says that God often comforts us with his presence, not with provisions. Things are temporary, but God is permanent and eternal. God shows up every time we need comfort, not with presents, but with his presence. This comfort is meaningful, lasting, and personal.

God’s Promise

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
