Trusting God

Trusting God

How can I trust God the way Mary did? Is God really that trustworthy?

God’s Response

Mary asked the angel, “But how can this happen? I am a virgin.”The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. . . .”Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” Luke 1:34-35, 38

How would this young engaged girl explain a sudden pregnancy? She didn’t worry about it; instead, she trusted God. She knew she had not had sex, and that she had honored God with her body and her actions. So she knew that God would honor her and take care of her. It’s not always easy honoring God, because he may ask you to do some huge task—he asked Mary to give birth to Jesus!—that you feel unfit for. God knows what you can handle because he will walk with you. If you trust him, he will make sure you accomplish all he asks you to do. What he asks you to do will be more fulfilling than anything you could do on your own.

This Is Promising

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. Psalm 56:3
