Starting Over

Will God forgive my past sexual sins? Can I truly start over?

God’s Response

Joshua secretly sent out two spies from the Israelite camp at Acacia. . . . So the two men set out and came to the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there that night. . . . Rahab went up on the roof to talk with them. “I know the LORD has given you this land,” she told them. Joshua 2:1, 8-9

It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute was not destroyed with the people in her city who refused to obey God. Hebrews 11:31

It is difficult to believe that God could completely forgive us, especially when we have such a difficult time forgiving ourselves. The beauty of the Christian faith is that we have a God who will wipe the slate clean and give us a fresh start no matter how much we’ve sinned. You need to confess your sin, draw the boundary lines, and decide you will not cross them again until you are married. Rahab was a prostitute who, through faith in God, was saved when Jericho fell. Her name later appears in the genealogy of Jesus (Matthew 1:5). God hasn’t given up on you, so don’t give up on yourself. When you are forgiven, God looks at you as though you had never sinned.

This Is Promising

Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Psalm 32:1
