Can I really make a difference in the world?

God’s Response

[Hezekiah] did what was pleasing in the LORD’s sight, just as his ancestor David had done. He removed the pagan shrines, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. . . . Hezekiah trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all the kings of Judah, either before or after his time. 2 Kings 18:3-5

Hezekiah was only one man. Sure, he was the king, but many of the kings before him had allowed the nation to slide into idolatry. Hezekiah decided to act on his faith and clean up his kingdom. You’re only one person, and perhaps not a very powerful one, but that doesn’t mean you have to throw in the towel. All it takes is one person to stand up against wrong, one person to make a difference, one person to take the lead. Maybe you can be the one to “stand in the gap.”

This Is Promising

I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30
