How can I help when I see others being mistreated by prejudice?

A Jewish man was traveling on a trip from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. . . . A priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by. A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side. Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him. Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Luke 10:30-34

Jesus told a story about four people traveling on a road: one got mugged, two fellow Jews passed him by, and a Samaritan stopped to help. Jews hated Samaritans, so we might have expected the Samaritan to have also passed by due to prejudice, but he didn’t. When you see people being mistreated by prejudice, be kind and show the love of Christ—don’t pass them by. This could be as simple as a kind word of encouragement, or a harder act of coming to their defense in a crowd. You may be ridiculed for this, but you will have the satisfaction of doing what Jesus wants you to do.
