Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed

Where can I turn when I start to get overwhelmed by worry?

God’s Response

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Matthew 6:25-27

Worry is a natural part of life, but too much worry can distract and paralyze you, and can even lead to a sinful denial of God’s presence and grace in your life. Worry crowds out what is good in your life and focuses you on your problems, which makes them seem much worse. Worry over the concerns of life becomes sinful when it prevents you from thinking about anything else, including God. The Bible teaches that we find rest from worry when we admit that we can’t control the future and then entrust ourselves—and our loved ones—to the God who does.

This Is Promising

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow. Matthew 6:32-34
