What is wrong with just thinking about having sex with someone?

I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28

It is what comes from inside that defiles you. For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality . . . lustful desires. Mark 7:20-22

What you think about doesn’t just come from your mind; it comes from your heart. Your thoughts tell you the condition of your heart because your every action begins as a thought. Left unchecked, wrong thoughts will eventually result in wrong actions. If you continue to think about having sex with someone, your heart will begin to convince your mind that what you want to do is okay. The Bible says that the heart is “desperately wicked” (Jeremiah 17:9). In other words, don’t trust your emotions to tell you what is right and good. Trust God’s Word, for it comes from God’s heart, which is good and perfect.
