In The Path Of Temptation

In the Path of Temptation

What could happen if I’m disobedient?

God’s Response

You disobeyed my command. Why did you do this? So now I declare that I will no longer drive out the people living in your land. They will be thorns in your sides, and their gods will be a constant temptation to you. Judges 2:2-3

A prudent person foresees danger and takes precautions. The simpleton goes blindly on and suffers the consequences. Proverbs 22:3

When you’re not paying attention to God’s Word, you expose yourself to temptation. If you put yourself in the path of temptation without the armor of God’s Word to protect you, you will probably give in and disobey God. It is a basic life principle that disobedience always leads to negative consequences. Another is that disobedience brings discipline from God, just as a disobedient child should be disciplined by a parent. This is a good thing, for it shows that you are loved. Discipline will help you learn from your mistakes, but it will not erase the consequences you set into motion when you disobeyed.

This Is Promising

My child, don’t reject the LORD’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the LORD corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights. Proverbs 3:11-12
