How should I respond when someone confronts me?

God’s Response

This is what our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you with the wisdom God gave him—speaking of these things in all of his letters. Some of his comments are hard to understand, and those who are ignorant and unstable have twisted his letters to mean something quite different, just as they do with other parts of Scripture. And this will result in their destruction. 2 Peter 3:15-16

Peter had been confronted by Paul (see yesterday’s reading). We have no record of his response at that time, but from the verses above, it appears that Peter had great respect for Paul, equating Paul’s letters with “the other parts of Scripture.” When someone confronts you, take a moment to think and consider the source. Ask God if he sent this person to help you see something in your character that you hadn’t seen before. Thank God for people who care enough to speak the truth. Being humble enough to admit when you’re wrong is a sign of great strength.
