Giving In

Giving In

Will God forgive me after I’ve given in to temptation?

God’s Response

The temple was completely filled with people. All the Philistine rulers were there, and there were about three thousand men and women on the roof who were watching as Samson amused them. Then Samson prayed to the LORD, “Sovereign LORD, remember me again. O God, please strengthen me just one more time. . . .” Then Samson put his hands on the two center pillars that held up the temple. Pushing against them with both hands, he prayed, “Let me die with the Philistines.” Judges 16:27-30

Samson certainly made a mess of things. God had great plans for him, but Samson let his passions rule his life. But in spite of his past, God still answered his prayer. He was willing to hear Samson’s confession and repentance and work through him one final time. Often we don’t feel like praying after we’ve sinned. Don’t let guilty feelings over sin keep you from your only means of forgiveness.

This Is Promising

If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. 1 John 1:9
