Friendship With God

Friendship with God

How can I have a friendship with God?

God’s Response

It happened just as the Scriptures say: “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.” He was even called the friend of God. James 2:23

The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. . . . The LORD replied to Moses, “I will indeed do what you have asked, for I look favorably on you, and I know you by name.” Exodus 33:11, 17

It may seem strange to think of being friends with the God of the universe, especially since you can’t see or touch him in a physical way. It might help you to consider what makes any friendship strong: time, communication, honesty, loyalty. Friendship with God really isn’t much different; it involves these same things. God has already extended an offer of friendship to you just as he did to Abraham and Moses. Like them, you can be friends with God if you truly seek him, walk with him, and love him.

This Is Promising

The LORD is a friend to those who fear him. He teaches them his covenant. Psalm 25:14
