Depression
Depression
Does God care when I feel depressed?
God’s Response
From the depths of despair, O LORD, I call for your help. Psalm 130:1
Come quickly, LORD, and answer me, for my depression deepens. Don’t turn away from me, or I will die. Psalm 143:7
God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Matthew 5:4
[Jesus] told them, “My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death.” Matthew 26:38
Depression can be serious, often requiring counseling and even medical attention. It also requires spiritual attention. Jesus understands what it feels like to have your soul crushed to the point of death and to live through what some call “the dark night of the soul.” When you feel this low, you may feel hopeless. However, the darkness of depression doesn’t have to block out the light of God’s healing. Cry out to him even from your darkness. He will hear and comfort you, hold you, and begin to heal you.
This Is Promising
Even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. Psalm 139:12
