Denying Yourself

Denying Yourself

How do I deny myself and put others first as Jesus did?

God’s Response

If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels. Mark 8:35-38

To deny yourself doesn’t mean that you can’t have or enjoy anything; instead, it means that you put Jesus first and others next. Put aside anything that gets in the way of that. Jesus understood that it is fundamentally fulfilling to live in service to others and that living only for yourself will lead to emptiness and disappointment. To have JOY, put Jesus first, Others second, and Yourself last.

This Is Promising

There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13
