God’s Response

Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9

The Devil . . . was a murderer from the beginning and has always hated the truth. There is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. John 8:44

The purpose of evil is to defy God and wear down believers until they are led into sin. This gives Satan pleasure and greater power over the earth. Therefore, you must be alert at all times for both the sneak attacks and the frontal attacks of the evil one. He will try to distort God’s Word, hoping to make you doubt its integrity and, therefore, to question God’s will and intentions for you. Eventually, God will take away and destroy the power of evil for all time. Until that day, we overcome evil by choosing to obey God.

God’s Challenge

Don’t let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the evil powers of this world, and not from Christ. Colossians 2:8
