Will God give me real, lasting happiness?

God’s Response

O LORD Almighty, happy are those who trust in you. Psalm 84:12

Happy are those who obey his decrees and search for him with all their hearts. Psalm 119:2

Happy are those who fear the LORD. Yes, happy are those who delight in doing what he commands. Psalm 112:1

We are happy when a tool—a power drill or laser level—works the way it was intended to work. This feeling of being happy, however, is just a shadow of the lasting happiness we experience when we function in the ways that God intended when he made us. We were created to live and to relate to others in certain ways that are clearly described in the Bible. When we follow these guidelines, we have the greatest possible impact on our present and on our future; we achieve our purpose; and we find true, lasting happiness.
