Giving Your Best

Giving Your Best

Why is it important to give our best to the Lord?

God’s Response

Be sure to set aside the best portions of the gifts given to you as your gifts to the LORD. Numbers 18:29

When it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the LORD. Abel also brought a gift—the best of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The LORD accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift. Genesis 4:3-5

Everything we have has come from you, and we give you only what you have already given us! 1 Chronicles 29:14

Giving your best to God shows the value you put on your relationship with him. If you are trying to get away with something less than the best, your motives reveal that God is not first in your life. Since your worship reflects your heart’s condition, giving your best to God reflects what you think of him. Giving less than your best cheapens God’s best gift to you—eternal life through the death and resurrection of his own Son, Jesus.

God’s Promise

Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything your land produces. Then he will fill your barns with grain. Proverbs 3:9-10
