Friendship

Friendship

How can I keep God at the center of my other friendships?

God’s Response

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous. . . . Love does not demand its own way. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need. Proverbs 17:17

Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32

Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can goodness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

Paul’s timeless description of Christian love should apply in all your friendships. To be a good friend, be loyal, helpful, kind, and forgiving. True friendships are glued together with bonds of loyalty and commitment. They remain intact despite changing external circumstances. If you demonstrate to your friends all the characteristics that God demonstrates to you, you will always have strong and loyal friends.

God’s Promise

[Jesus said,] “Where two or three gather together because they are mine, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20
