How is Christian fellowship different from other kinds of friendship?

I’m eager to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. In this way, each of us will be a blessing to the other. Romans 1:12

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. James 5:16

Good friends are a wonderful gift, but fellowship among believers in Jesus (at church or in small groups) is unique because it invites the living God into your group. It brings together people who have a common perspective on life because they know their sins have been forgiven and that this impacts their freedom and their future. Christian fellowship provides a place for honest sharing about the things in life that really matter, encouragement to stay strong in the face of temptation and persecution, and unique supernatural help to deal with problems.
