Confrontation

How can I effectively confront someone who is heading toward foolishness?

God’s Response

Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them. Ephesians 5:11

If another believer sins, rebuke him; then if he repents, forgive him. Luke 17:3

They must not speak evil of anyone, and they must avoid quarreling. Instead, they should be gentle and show true humility to everyone. Titus 3:2

How you confront someone is just as important as what you say. Effective confrontation is first done privately, gently, and with pure motives. If you are convinced that confrontation is necessary, it is best to approach the person sooner rather than later. The person may be upset at first, so be kind and patient. Remember that it is God who changes hearts, not you. Consider how you would want to be confronted—and then take your own advice!
