Many organizations are compartmentalized to the extent that someone may start a new project and then never touch it after it passes to the next development stage.

Human beings need closure; we like to know that our contributions matter. We need to see and enjoy the fruits of our labor.

Paul argued with those who criticized him for expecting “a share of the harvest” (1 Corinthians 9:10). He reasoned that “the one who plows and the one who threshes the grain” (v. 10) should reap some benefits.

One effective method of sharing the outcome with everyone in your organization is to provide regular reports from end users of your product or service. When someone writes in with a great compliment, make sure the folks at the very beginning of the development process hear how their original idea is meeting someone’s needs.

Look for ways to connect those at the beginning of an idea with those at the end. When the team wins, find ways for everyone to attend the victory celebration.
