Revisit Changed Situations

We can plainly see that the LORD is with you. So we want to enter into a sworn treaty with you. Let’s make a covenant. Genesis 26:28

One of the advantages of being in leadership is the opportunity to take your eyes off the nitty-gritty and concentrate on the big picture. You hire managers to tend the flock while you walk through the hills looking for new pastures.

Sometimes those new pastures will be places you’ve already visited that weren’t ready for your flock the first time around. Customers who left can return. Competitors can become allies. A supplier who raised prices beyond your comfort zone can make a new offer.

Isaac and Abimelech were bitter enemies at one time, but now in a different environment, they took an oath of cooperation. Isaac was wary at first because Abimelech had treated him harshly a few years before, but Abimelech saw some advantages in a treaty with Isaac, and Isaac agreed.

It’s okay to revisit situations that have changed through time and circumstance.
