Get Fresh Intelligence

Gideon took Purah and went down to the edge of the enemy camp. The armies of Midian . . . [were] like a swarm of locusts. Their camels were like grains of sand on the seashore. Judges 7:11-12

Gideon had every right to be concerned about his pending battle against the Midianite army. From a distant perspective, these guys were going to be tough opponents.

There were three hundred Israelites against an army described as “too many to count” (Judges 7:12).

But wait—Gideon overheard two of the enemy soldiers talking, and they were terrified. They had dreams about being beaten by Gideon and were convinced of their own demise.

Good intelligence is critically important. When you’re faced with a tough decision, get all the facts. Overestimating your opponent’s abilities is just as detrimental as overestimating your own. Having the latest intelligence can give you tremendous confidence.
