Avoid The “love Of Money” Trap

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

When the big names go down in flames, they make CNN, but you don’t need to be Enron, WorldCom, or Arthur Andersen to fall into the “love of money” trap. Plenty of small-fry executives find themselves “pierced with many sorrows” when their priorities get whacked.

Organizations run into trouble when

• decisions are based on profit margins rather than on what customers actually want;
• salaried employees are required to spend more time at work and less time with their families because of cutbacks;
• suppliers are squeezed for additional discounts beyond what is reasonable or necessary;
• executive-level staff are paid disproportionately more than the rank and file;
• wages are kept low because a glut of job seekers makes it easy to fill positions.

All resources come from God. Make financial decisions as if God were sitting next to you at the table, because he is.
