Seek Jesus - The Wise Men

About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews?”

Matthew 2:1-2

The famous violinist Fritz Kreisler once said of the effort and personal sacrifices required to become a master of his craft, “Narrow is the road that leads to the life of a violinist. Hour after hour, day after day, and week after week, for years, I lived with my violin. There were so many things that I wanted to do that I had to leave undone; there were so many places I wanted to go that I had to miss if I was to master the violin. The road that I traveled was a narrow road and the way was hard.”

Effort is a key to success in any area of life, including the spiritual. The wise men who visited Jesus in Bethlehem exemplify that truth.

The Bible says little about who these wise men were or where they had come from. What is really important is what they did.

These men watched for signs that the ancient prophets of God had written about centuries before. Then they traveled several hundred miles by camel to see the newborn King Jesus.

In a time and culture where it’s often a struggle to make it to church by 10:30 AM, there is something inspiring about men who would travel such a great distance to worship the Son of God.

These men went to incredible lengths to find Jesus Christ. When they finally found him in Bethlehem, they bowed before him in worship, then presented him with precious gifts.

Like the wise men who traveled so far to see Jesus in Bethlehem, you should make it a priority to worship him passionately and give him your best each day. You don’t have to travel hundreds of miles to find Jesus because he lives in your heart when you put your faith in him.
