Make A Lasting Impression - King Darius

King Darius sent this message to the people of every race and nation and language throughout the world: “Peace and prosperity to you! I decree that everyone throughout my kingdom should tremble with fear before the God of Daniel. For he is the living God, and he will endure forever.”

Daniel 6:25-26

What would you do if you knew that by demonstrating your faithfulness to God through simple acts such as attending church regularly and talking about your faith at home, you could have a lasting influence on your children?

In a recent article in Kindred Spirit, Dr. Michael Green cites a study that found that the sons of fathers who frequently attended church, discussed religion at home, and were committed to their faith tended to follow that same pattern throughout their lives.

How you live and how you demonstrate your faith can make a big impression.

Darius the Mede is a great example of what can happen when a man sees the fruit of true faith. Opponents of Daniel duped Darius into sending the prophet into a den of lions. Darius knew that he had sent Daniel to a horrible death, and it tore him up so badly that he spent the night fasting.

More than ever, Darius wanted to see the power of Daniel’s God put on display. That’s what happened as Daniel emerged from the lion’s den the next morning without so much as a scratch.

What an impression this made on Darius! He had just seen a miracle, and he had no other explanation for it. This was the work of a mighty God! Darius praised the name of Daniel’s God.

Our world is full of men like Darius who need to see the truth and goodness of God demonstrated openly in the lives of those who faithfully and wholeheartedly serve him.

What can you do to impress a Darius in your own world?

As a believer, you are called to make an impression on the world around you. You do that when your life, words, and attitudes set you apart among people that desperately need to see God’s power at work.
