Intimacy With God - Moses

When Moses came down Mount Sinai carrying the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, he wasn’t aware that his face had become radiant because he had spoken to the LORD.

Exodus 34:29

When you arrive at the office on a summer Monday morning, it’s easy to tell which of your coworkers has spent the weekend outside. Even outdoorsy types who carefully apply their sunscreen will have a glow from basking in the sun.

You can’t hide a personal encounter with God any more than time spent in the summer sun.

Moses had spent forty days and nights in God’s presence, talking with God as he would with his best friend. When the time came for Moses to return to camp, he picked up the tablets of the law and began his descent.

As Moses reached the camp, no one wanted to come near him. The people saw the glow on Moses’ face, and it frightened them.

Spending hours of quality time with someone is bound to change you. You maintain your personal identity and nature, but parts of the other person’s character, convictions, and even appearance rub off on you and change you to some degree.

That is exactly what happened when Moses enjoyed intimate fellowship with his Creator. The people of Israel that God had called him to lead would never again see him in the same light.

Moses had a glow about him because he spent time getting close to God. What would make people see a similar glow in you?
