God’s Approval - Moses

God’s Approval - Moses

May the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful!

Psalm 90:17

Have you ever known or worked with a “yes man” who stops at nothing to gain approval from everyone he knows, and especially those in authority? In the end, the “yes man” usually doesn’t succeed in any area of life because others’ opinions and desires so easily sway him.

Someone once said, “I can’t give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure: Try to please everyone.”

The Bible teaches that lasting blessings come when you make pleasing God and seeking his approval your focus, which Moses understood well.

Moses wrote Psalm 90, the oldest of the psalms, apparently during the Israelites’ forty years of wilderness wandering. He spoke plainly about the consequences of their stubbornness and disobedience.

Even though Moses knew that most of those who had left Egypt would never see the Promised Land, he still found hope in understanding the connection between willing obedience and divine blessing. Moses wanted his people to receive God’s very best. Though Moses forfeited the privilege of entering the Promised Land because of disobedience on one occasion, God faithfully answered his prayers and allowed the Israelites to claim and enter the land he had promised them centuries before.

Life is far too short and God’s blessings far too wonderful to miss anything he wants to give you. Spend every minute of every day living for God’s approval, for a life of obedience will never disappoint you.

Most men want to do things in their own way and time. You will find yourself greatly blessed when you first seek God’s approval and blessing on whatever you do.
