Defend What Is Right - Moses

Defend What Is Right - Moses

Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you.

Deuteronomy 4:1

“To each his own.”

“Different strokes for different folks.”

“We all march to the beat of a different drummer.”

“Whatever works for you . . .”

Each of us naturally tends to think that we have the right to adopt our own set of morals, standards, and spirituality apart from any absolute standard. Believers in Christ must reject such a belief. In your home, especially, it’s your job to set godly standards and follow through by living up to them.

Moses, the man God called to deliver the Hebrews out of Egyptian slavery, accepted such a responsibility when he became the leader of his people. He delivered an uncompromising message of strict obedience to God with no tolerance for sin. His message called for full compliance with the Word of God and the rejection of any kind of idolatry.

It also included the promise of reward for full obedience.

Moses understood the importance of setting righteous standards for the people he led. Though no one would call him perfect, he faithfully walked the path of obedience to God without fear of being labeled inflexible, intolerant, dogmatic, or, worst of all, judgmental. He could bear the name calling so long as he focused on the God who had called him and on his God-given goal.

Do you have that kind of courage and conviction? Are you willing to risk anger, resentment, opposition, or insults to follow God with a clear conscience? You’re not perfect, but God doesn’t ask for perfection. He asks for simple, Spirit-empowered obedience.

God wants you to speak and live in a way that reflects the truth of his Word, beginning with your own home. God promises countless blessings to those whose words and deeds reflect an uncompromising commitment to him and to his truth.
